This cicada jumping jack is modeled off of simple Christmas ornament I was fascinated with as a child. Figuring out the mechanics was surprisingly difficult but the final product was delightful. The insect theme is part of a larger body of work, Entropia based on plants & insects native to the American south east. It also gave me the opportunity to layer beautiful paper and make something that is simple, elegant, and an homage to the natural life around me.
